All questions are given in simplified Chinese, with traditional characters provided in parentheses. If the questions do not appear in Chinese, please go to the Online Language Support Center and reconfigure your language options (Step 1).

If you have no formal training for the Chinese language and you are NOT a Chinese heritage speaker (a "Chinese heritage speaker" means that you grew up in an environment in which Mandarin or a Chinese dialect is spoken regularly), there is no need to take this test – enroll in CHIN 1001.
  2. If you are a native Chinese speaker/reader, do not take this test. Contact the Chinese Advisor directly for placement.
